peaceful sky
More than three years have passed since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, which has brought immense grief to Ukrainian families and caused widespread destruction across our country. One of the consequences of a drone attack was the complete destruction of our warehouse. As a symbol of our desire for peace and a stand against further escalation of hatred, the Kusum pharmaceutical group has decided to install the sculpture “Peaceful Sky” in Kyiv’s Kusum Square.
The “Peaceful Sky” sculpture, created by sculptor Denys Isakov, is crafted in warm bronze tones and installed in Kusum Square in Kyiv. The composition includes three life-sized figures, each embodying movement and the joy of the moment.
These figures serve as a symbol of Kusum’s commitment to peace and as a reminder that the most precious things in life are peace and a childhood without war. We have no right to allow the further spread of hatred, destruction, pain, and grief that war brings. We stand for peace and the energy of life, and we oppose violence and cruelty.
The title “Peaceful Sky” is key to understanding the concept—it reflects Kusum’s dedication to peace and Ukraine’s future. The warm bronze tones of the children and the dog symbolize resilience, eternity, and the value of human connection. The children, captured in a moment of genuine play with floating “balloons” and a loyal canine friend, represent innocence, the joy of life, and carefree childhood—foundations of a hopeful future.
Sculpture Description.
The boy is depicted in a lively pose, his body full of motion. His hands are raised upward, holding three stainless steel spheres that symbolize balloons. Their metallic sheen contrasts with the warmth of the bronze figures, adding a modern touch. The boy’s face reflects carefree joy, as if he is releasing his dreams into the vast sky.
The girl is also shown in motion, her figure light and graceful, with one foot lifted off the ground. Her gaze is directed upward toward the gleaming “balloons,” and she holds a fine thread in her hands, stretching toward the dog, creating a visual connection between them.
The dog is depicted in a dynamic pose, tail raised high, as if playing with the thread the girl holds, sharing in their collective joy.
The thread made of stainless steel that connects the children and the dog symbolizes strong friendship, loyalty, and mutual support—key elements of peaceful coexistence. The dynamic poses of the bronze figures convey energy, optimism, and the pursuit of a brighter future.
The stainless steel spheres, serving as balloons, introduce modernity and symbolic meaning. Their shine evokes the image of a clear sky, the glow of hope, and the eternal values of childhood. The contrast between the warm bronze and the cool metal reflects the harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.
In the context of Denys Isakov’s artistic style, the use of bronze and stainless steel highlights his experimental approach with materials, combining classical techniques with contemporary elements. “Peaceful Sky” is not only a symbol of hope, joy, and the importance of peace—it also embodies Kusum’s aspiration for a peaceful Ukraine.
