Indications for use:
Glutazone® is indicated as second- or third-line treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus:
as monotherapy:
– in adult patients (especially overweight patients) with contraindications or intolerance to metformin in case of inadequate control of blood glucose levels by diet and exercise;
as dual therapy in combination with:
– metformin in adult patients (especially overweight patients) with inadequate glycemic control, despite the use of monotherapy with the maximum tolerated dose of metformin;
– sulfonylurea derivatives in adult patients (with intolerance and contraindications to metformin) with insufficient glycemic control, despite the use of monotherapy with sulfonylurea derivatives in the maximum tolerated dose;
as triple therapy in combination with:
– metformin and sulfonylurea derivatives in adult patients (especially overweight patients) with inadequate glycemic control, despite the use of dual combination therapy.
Glutazone® is also indicated in combination with insulin for type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients with inadequate glycemic control when using insulin for whom metformin is inappropriate because of contraindications or intolerance."
