“Peaceful Sky” in the Kusum Square

More than three years have passed since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, which brought immense grief to Ukrainian families and caused widespread destruction across our country. One of the drone attacks completely destroyed our warehouse. As a sign of our commitment to peace and to preventing further escalation of hatred, a group of Kusum pharmaceutical companies has decided to install the sculpture “Peaceful Sky” in a Kyiv square.

“This sculpture is our call for peace and a reminder that the most precious thing is life — especially a child’s life, free from fear and pain,” — said Rajeev Gupta, CEO of Glendfarm LTD.

The “Peaceful Sky” sculpture, installed in Kusum Square in Kyiv, was created by sculptor Denys Isakov in warm bronze tones. The main composition consists of three life-sized figures, each conveying the joy and energy of the moment.

These figures, at human height, symbolize Kusum’s dedication to peace and serve as a reminder that the most valuable treasures are life and a childhood without war. We cannot allow the further spread of hatred, destruction, pain, and sorrow that war brings. We stand for peace and the energy of life, against violence and cruelty.

“The name ‘Peaceful Sky’ is key to understanding the concept — Kusum stands for peace and Ukraine’s future. The warm bronze tones of the children and the dog symbolize resilience, eternity, and the value of human connection. The children, shown in a moment of joyful play with floating ‘balloons’ and a loyal friend, embody innocence, the joy of life, and carefree childhood — the foundation of the future,” — commented Rajeev Gupta, CEO of Glendfarm LTD.

Sculpture Description

The boy is depicted in a lively pose, his body full of motion. His arms are raised, holding three stainless steel spheres symbolizing balloons. Their metallic shine contrasts with the warmth of the bronze figures, adding a modern accent. The boy’s face reflects carefree joy, as if he is releasing his dreams into the high sky.

The girl is also portrayed in motion, her figure light and graceful, with one foot lifted off the ground. Her gaze is directed upward at the glowing “balloons,” while she holds a thin thread that extends to the dog, creating a visual connection between them.

The dog is shown in a dynamic stance with its tail raised, as if playing with the string the girl is holding, sharing in their joyful moment.

The connection between the children and the dog through a stainless steel thread symbolizes strong friendship, loyalty, and mutual support — essential components of peaceful coexistence.

The dynamic poses of the bronze figures convey energy, optimism, and the aspiration for a brighter future. The stainless steel spheres, representing balloons, bring a sense of modernity and symbolism to the composition. Their shine evokes the image of a clear sky, the light of hope, and the timeless values of childhood. The contrast between the warmth of bronze and the coolness of metal reflects a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.

In the context of Denys Isakov’s artistic work, the use of bronze and stainless steel showcases his experimentation with materials and his fusion of classical techniques with contemporary elements. “Peaceful Sky” is not only a symbol of hope, joy, and the importance of peaceful life, but also an embodiment of Kusum’s commitment to peace in Ukraine.
